Look Who Has 2 Teeth and a Shoe!

Amity and I love to walk over and play at Glenmere Park, just a 1/2 mile or so from the house. The trees make for great shade, and the pine combs and sticks are ever plentiful. After running a few errands today, I told Am we would stop there on our way home and play a little before lunch. She was quite enthused.

Amity's Big Debut in Album Art!

We have fantastic friends. Tim Coons, a local, amazing, and inspirational song-writer and artist hosted a project recently for his latest album. In essence, he asked a bunch of his artsy friends to take pictures that would go along with a song he posted from the album, each week in July, that he might be able to use for album art after the album is released. It was a huge hit. I watched as literally dozens of images flooding my instagram feed all hashtagged with Potomacproject, the name of his new album. We had a fabulous July - complete with fireworks, our first week long camping trip with kiddos, an epic bluegrass festival, lots of splash park dates with friends, staying in Foco with the Netzers, and so much fun with family and celebrating Mom/Grandma/Jennie's 50th birthday. Amity's Story Begins, Part III

At some point while the nurses were tending to the baby, I realized that I hadn't even checked the gender. I walked over in the midst of everything, saw that it was a girl, and barely managed to tell Kim before we both got choked up about it. I think I had honestly been expecting a boy, but now I don't think I could imagine it any other way. After the nurses had been working on the baby for a few minutes, they wrapped her up in a blanket and brought her over to Kim. The baby was really pale, and not very active. Kim was only able to hold her very briefly, and it was pretty emotional. I was faced with a big decision - I felt like I really needed to stay with the baby, but I didn't want to leave Kim in what was going to be a really hard situation for her. I started to ask her what she wanted and she told me to go with the baby before I even finished.
