Nothing Every Day

Moving for us happened more suddenly than we were able to truly process. It seemed like Aaron went from interviewing, getting the job, starting the job right away, and then BANG - we found a house and now were needing to get into that house as soon as possible to save money on rent. The job, the house, the new life was about 1.5-2 hours away from our home in Greeley. For me, time to reflect, be sad, and realize the gravity of what was happening, didn't truly come until after we had been in our new home for over a week. Being busy kept my mind occupied, and my heart guarded because I had too many things to do, on my own, while Aaron stayed at my folks and Amity and I readied the house for the big transition. Friends during this time have struggled with me, delighted with me, prayed with me and been in constant communication with me (even when I wasn't quick to write back at times), knowing all of this was going to hit me like bricks once I let my guard down and let it. Our little Amity had a great time with all of her friends from Atlas this Halloween! Ami painted her pumpkin, from our garden, with purple food coloring mixed with cornstarch and water. The end product didn't last long, but the mess was quite enjoyable. Not being well experienced with craft projects like this just yet with an 8 month old, I set the little bowl of "paint" on her tray so she could dip her hand in it and such. Bad idea. Within about 20 seconds, the tray and it's contents were all over our dining room floor, leaving a dusty, purple look to the hardwood. While Amity finished painting the pumpkin from what was left on her high chair tray, I cleaned up the mess I should've seen forthcoming. These are the vows we wrote for Amity's dedication today. It was beautiful, and we were so thankful to be a part of it, and so thankful that we have such a wonderful church community to belong to. We decided to be part of this dedication for a few reasons. I love that Aaron plays the guitar and Amity loves to watch him in amazement. She even tried to strum some tunes herself this week as we sat her in front of the guitar while Aar was playing. Aaron has been gone a lot recently which has been hard on all of us. He's doing great things for his school and robotics club, but having him gone is hard: No way around that. This however, is one of my favorite memories the two of them share. The video quality is poor as it was taken on my iPhone, but the sentiment of "Tickle Bug"is loud and clear. :) ----------------------------------------------------------- Our dear friend T.J. recently opened up the best coffee shop in town. Our church, Atlas, is in the process of building a coffee shop, in part to provide a place for insomniac college students to hang out during the late hours when everything else in Greeley is closed up. I set up the camera at the beginning of the day to shoot at intervals of 30 seconds while different volunteers helped out with the framing. After about 7 hours this is the result! I'm hoping to do more of this and put a bunch of footage together into something more substantial once it is all together.
