Kitchen Wednesdays

Image
I think Kitchen Wednesdays might ring more true and so that's the new title for these sorts of days. See the new look? Though my daughter has strangely light brown hair, and very little of it, I did manage to get her first ponytail in the record books since she has the cutest little mohawk! Here's a couple shots of my lil helper sitting up for a bit all by herself! Today we decided to try out a Pinterest recipe for Stuffed Bell Peppers! These were absolutely delicious and will be going into our book of favorite dinners to make. Not to mention, they're super cheap, and incredibly healthy as well! With a side of guacamole, of course! Stuffed Bell Peppers Ingredients:        1 serving: 257 calories 3 red bell peppers (cut in half, seeds taken out) 3 cloves garlic (minced) 1 medium onion chopped up 16 oz. can of salsa (we used Betony's homemade salsa that we canned last week) 16 oz. ground turkey 1 c. colby cheese 1.5 c. coo

Amity's Big Debut in Album Art!

Image
We have fantastic friends. Tim Coons, a local, amazing, and inspirational song-writer and artist hosted a project recently for his latest album. In essence, he asked a bunch of his artsy friends to take pictures that would go along with a song he posted from the album, each week in July, that he might be able to use for album art after the album is released. It was a huge hit. I watched as literally dozens of images flooding my instagram feed all hashtagged with Potomacproject, the name of his new album. Here's a great article written on Tim and his sweet wifey that was in the Tribune just a week or so ago now. http://www.greeleytribune.com/news/1605296-113/tim-betony-greeley-music The really exciting thing, which as soon I found out, brought me to tears, is that one of my images, and further, an image I took of Amity made it into the top 8 of his favorites and will be featured in the first 100 special cased albums. Here's the sweet picture of her you will be happy t

Canning with the Coonsies

Amity and I spent today at our dear friend Tim and Betony's house. Betony is an all around amazingly awesome woman, who inspires me beyond words in both motherhood and artistically. She also is a fabulous cook to add to her many talents and today we spent time in her kitchen, making it smell wonderful with homemade salsa she is going to can. When we pulled up, Bet texted me to let me know that I better come in the front door. There is a very important birthday party happening in front of the back one. Here's little Lucy with her whole birthday set up for none other than the sweet bear you see propped up with all of his friends. They were enjoying juice and crab apples. She is so stinking adorable! We realized cooking and canning before having lunch would only make us crabby patties and so we started by having some devine, light sandwiches out on the front porch. It's hard to believe that Harriet's birthday is just over a month away

Baking Wednesdays...

Image
I've contemplated starting a new tradition with Amity: Baking Wednesdays. The idea being that Amity, who is in love with food and doing fun and messy things, and I can share some good time together doing something I love and sometimes share that time with friends baking things at our house or theirs. Our first attempt at this tradition was this afternoon as we made homemade zucchini bread! It smells scrumptious and as you can see from the pictures left Amity's mouth watering all over the place! While it was baking, Amity was quite entertained by Tweaz who kept wandering around the kitchen meowing at the top of his lungs... of course... She was so hungry in fact, that she tried to see just how much of her rattle would fit into her mouth! It was quite hilarious! And then... the zucchini bread was done! { Baking Wednesday Day 1: Success! }
