Coloring Makes Me Happy

Image
Coloring is a past time I do often but always wish I did more. This girl has a heart for making things beautiful too and when Grandma brought these pretty coloring pages made out of vellum sheets, she let Amity keep a stack so she could continue the creating long after Easter weekend ended. Having them scatter the glass of our back doors has made all of us so happy. Just seeing a splash of color feels inviting, fun, pretty, and reminds the kids of their contribution and that their art is valued. Everest is in the stage of holding his pencil/pen/marker in his fist and he easily gets frustrated when trying to stay in the lines or color in a designated area. But - he's getting there. His little focus, tongue out of course, is so evident already at 3 years old and it will only be a matter of time until he has the correct technique nailed down. I'm in no rush to get him there ahead of schedule. Jennie said that she found this set second hand so I'

When Your Art Expands

I love the fact that photography has allowed me the opportunity to capture meaningful moments in my life that I want to remember, but I equally love that it also has been the avenue for me in capturing my extended family and the growth of their families too. Amity is the oldest of 5 grandkids currently on Aaron's side of the family and his two sisters and I were all pregnant at the same time with 3 of those 5! What was even more neat was the spacing - which was completely unplanned on any of our parts but they are all 5 months apart. Everest was born in October, Gracelynn was born in March, and Cash was born in September. The three of them are so fun to watch together (when the rare chance comes for us all to be together now that everyone lives pretty far away and spread out). Here are some peeks at these three littles from the babe phase to now. Thankfully, I've also snagged lots of pics of all the grands or bundles of them here and there a

Banana Muffins in the Spring

Image
This week we indulged in some baking time as a family and created some easy and tasty banana muffins. Being that I'm still eating gluten free and keto - I actually didn't eat any of them or the batter - but my kiddos would tell you they were delicious! The recipe is fairly simple and I have had it pinned for awhile from this website here . It makes 12 decadent muffins that are good for the family to munch on throughout the week if stored with an airtight cover. Ingredients: * 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour * 1 tsp baking powder * 1 tsp baking soda * 1/2 tsp salt * 2-3 ripe bananas - mashed * 1 egg * 3/4 c white sugar * 1 tsp vanilla * 1/3 c butter melted Instructions: 1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2) Coat muffin pans with non-stick spray or use paper liners. (We used liners and they came out great) 3) Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Whisk to combine. Set aside. 4) In

March 2018 at a glance

This past month, Amity turned 6. She had a fun and full birthday with friends dressed up as princesses and knights, complete with swords made from pool noodles and some good pinata jousting as well. She is constantly playing our piano and working to learn more songs on her own. Everest loves to play dress up and is into all things superheroes these days. His latest fascination is to tell us all the facts about arachnids which he has acquired from his favorite PBS show "Wildkratts." Song: Always Gold by Radical Face

Oh hey there! We've got some updating to do!

Time to freshen up the blog and update you a bit on the life of the Adamsons since I'm hoping to do a bit more sharing of our life and family + random thoughts over here again. I've missed it and have made a personal challenge to myself to think more creatively this year (specifically starting this month). Here's the low down on life for the Adamsons thus far... Aaron got a new job last summer in Boulder and now commutes thru a vanpool to and from Greeley each day. He's loving the new work he's doing and the ways it's challenging him - but clearly not enough because he also started grad school this past January. Thankfully, it's not too much more of a time commitment so far as he can do much of his school work to and from his day job on the van. Getting his Masters was something that fell into our laps at just the right time and his new employer provides the funds for it entirely too which is an added bonus! Amity is now in Kinderg
