Amity's 1st Birthday

For Ami's first birthday we went all out. We invited all her littlest friends, near and far, and themed it after one of her favorite toys... duckies. Aaron and I spent hours forming the duckies for her cupcakes out of homemade marzipan (which is delicious), and the mixer became a permanent fixture on our counter of the last week as we baked, and baked, and baked homemade yellow cake cupcakes and blue cream cheese frosting. Our house has smelled like a delicious sugar haven. In the morning, I went and snuggled with Ami at 2:13 am (the time she was born) and I sang her happy birthday. She rested her head on my chest and we snuggled for just long enough to let her fall back into a deep sleep. Then, as the sun came up, Aaron and I went into her room and sang her happy birthday. We got her a very speecial dolly that we had custom made from a gifted crafter in town. Amity loved it. So many great friends came to her party and made it extra special and the load of gifts we trucked home was completely unexpected but everything that Amity just loves. We love that the people who were there know her so well. Her Auntie Bethany made her smash cake from scratch and Amity was a hoot trying to bite into the whole thing at once. What a beaming little girl we have who daily reminds us of the sweet things in this world. We love her so much and are excited to start another year watching her grow!
